Remo Manfredini, once a celebrated jockey, fell into debt with mob boss Sirena due to his self-destructive lifestyle. During a crucial race, he causes a fatal accident that kills a prized horse and leaves him badly injured. After waking in the hospital, he escapes, adopts a new identity, and disappears into the streets of Buenos Aires, fleeing Sirena.
